Instructions
Step 1
Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) while we prepare the ingredients.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, chopped parsley, 7-spice, and salt.
Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
Step 2
Now, divide the meat mixture into equal portions and shape each portion into log-shaped patties.
Step 3
This part is optional. You can place the patties straight into the oven tray, but I like to give them a little sear in the pan to make them crunchier outside and juicier inside.
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Sear the kafta patties on both sides until browned, about 2 minutes per side.
Step 4
Next, take a baking tray and combine the tomato sauce, water, remaining olive oil, and dried oregano.
Stir until well mixed.
Step 5
Arrange the seared kafta patties in the baking tray with the tomato sauce.
Spoon some sauce over the patties to ensure they are covered.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly.
Step 6
Serve the baked kafta hot, with a generous spoonful of baked tomato sauce on top.
Optionally, garnish with additional chopped parsley.
Enjoy these delicious Lebanese oven-baked kafta!
